Areas of interest

My research interests lie in the following areas, including differences between neurotypical individuals and those on the autism spectrum.

Production of Facial Expressions: Using electromyography (EMG) to investigate facial muscle responses when viewing emotional stimuli.

Facial Mimicry: Using EMG to examine the mechanisms and functions of facial mimicry, i.e., the automatic and subtle matching of observed facial expressions.

Detection and Perception of Facial Expressions: Investigating people’s judgements of others’ facial expressions of emotion (facial emotion recognition) using dynamic stimuli, as well as examining underlying mechanisms and modulating factors.
