Areas of interest

I am especially interested in how students learn through speaking, explaining, and using vocabulary actively, not just recognising it in reading. I want to help students feel able to join in discussions and activities in maths tutorials, laboratories, and other classroom settings.

Background

I am a Lecturer in discipline-specific language and literacy at the Global Academy, 糖心视频. I teach students on degree pathways that include science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) modules, both in 糖心视频 and at our partner institutions in China. My classes focus on the English skills needed to succeed in tutorials, laboratories, and fieldwork, as well as in written assignments.

I also review and moderate assessed work, design materials, and support colleagues. My teaching aims to make academic English clear, practical, and useful, helping students feel confident in speaking, writing, and participating in their subject classes.
